The national telecoms regulatory authority of a European country condemned the incumbent network operator for abusing its dominant position in the market. This decision entitled the smaller players in the market to request compensation from the incumbent for the foregone profits over the violation period. inCITES Consulting was asked by one of the smaller operators to evaluate the amount of compensation they should ask from the incumbent. inCITES received input from the plaintiff operator, national telecoms regulator and lawyers to develop a model that estimated the amount of damage the operator had sustained over the violation period. The inCITES model results were used by the client to the court for the compensation settlement as a trusted and impartial input to the case.
