The project addresses the growing complexity and vulnerability of smart energy ecosystems — which combine heterogeneous smart and legacy technologies — by developing an integrated set of tools and mechanisms to ensure secure operation, protect communications, and withstand sophisticated cyber threats. SDN-microSENSE adopts Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technology to implement risk assessment processes, self-healing capabilities, large-scale intrusion detection and prevention mechanisms, and a privacy protection framework, thereby strengthening EPES continuity and safeguarding critical energy infrastructure.
